The north wall went up first. Some wind gusts gave us a scare, but we eventually figured it out. |
The walls went up as one piece, and they were REALLY heavy. My Dad and my friend Sarah show what it takes to get it done. |
From the front of the house. The only window on the North wall is the bathroom window. |
The walls aren't perfectly plumb yet, but they will be once we get the end walls up. |
The man himself. Jake after a somewhat hairy but successful wall-raising. Many, many thanks to Dad and Sarah for making this possible! |
Congrats on the progress so far! As I follow along with your progress as well as other building-related blogs, I have a question for you:
ReplyDeleteDid you look into using SIPs to build the house? If so, why did you chose to do it stick built?... I'm curious about pros/cons, etc.
Thanks!
Great question! One of the reasons was that we really wanted to be able to assemble the house ourselves, and not necessarily be tied to a SIP manufacturer. But we did look hard at it. Also, the wall design came from the house builder/designer we had hired originally, and we stuck with it rather than redesign.
